Rathgar (0.5pt ew)

Best price 6/1.

The form of RATHGAR (best priced at 6/1) received a boost on Derby day when Sallaal won in impressive style and the gelding can follow up off a 6lb higher mark. The Jack Channon trained six-year-old ran with credit on the AW on his reappearance prior to beating Valedictory at Newbury and Sallaal at Epsom. Both of those rivals have won since and are now rated 8lbs and 17lbs higher respectively whereas Rathgar was raised 4lbs for his first success and 5lbs for his latest success.

Rathgar is now off a career high mark of 94 but is clearly in superb form and he looks sure to run well with five places widely available.

Lavender Gold (1pt)

Best price 9/4.

David Menuisier has a fantastic record at Goodwood in his career with 26-136 (19% strike rate) operating at a £28.25 level stake profit and it is interesting that he brings LAVENDER GOLD (best priced at 10/3) here following an eyecatching run on his reappearance. The three-year-old ran well on his four starts last season before having a wind operation and being gelded over the winter.

Lavender Gold was held up in rear and made some stylish headway before weakening late on at Haydock on his reappearance shaping like he would come on for the run. The handicapper has been generous dropping him 2lbs for that run and he should put in an improved performance down in grade off top weight.

Killavia (1pt)

Best price 17/2.

KILLAVIA (best priced at 7/1) was my biggest bet of the flat season so far when only 6th on her reappearance but she remains extremely well handicapped and can hopefully bounce back after that run.

The Rod Millman trained filly finished 3rd in the listed Dragon Stakes last season behind the 101 rated

Staya and 105 rated Military Code prior to winning easily in a maiden on her next start.

Outclassed on her next two starts, she was well backed from 8/1 into 4/1 on her reappearance when she made her handicap debut off a mark of 85. She travelled well but looked in need of the run late on and can bounce back here off a 2lb lower mark.
