SIR ALBERT (14/1) has a win to his name at this track over the 6f distance which is positive now that he makes just his third start on the all weather today. 

His trainer, Andrew Balding, has been in great form recently and boasts a 21% strike rate for the last 14 days which is made up of 13 winners. He proved to be a very progressive horse last season when winning three on the bounce which culminated in a third place finish in listed company at Doncaster. He is yet to hit the ground running so far this season but given the Trainer form and return to this surface, he could well putting a much improve performance today and I’m willing to take a chance that this season I’ll be the case given his nice each way price. 

HERMETIC - 0.5 Pts EW

HERMETIC (11/1) didn’t manage to get the victory required in order to get into the Northumberland Plate and has therefore had to settle for a role in the consolation race earlier on today’s card but he’s shown glimpses of ability since coming across the water from France and has been well supported on all of his outings in the UK so far. 

There was late money for him when making his first start for Ian Williams at York and he did well there to finish in fourth place on his first start for six months. Like many of the yards horses he is one who can progress from that run and although he was beaten when sent off as favourite most recently, I think a better showing on this surface over the 2 miles can be expected today.

STARGAZED - 0.75 Pts EW

STARGAZED (17/2) is a filly that I am willing to give another chance to having been put up as a suggested bet on her most recent start at Royal Ascot. She had her form franked by Nanna’s Shadow (who she opposes again today) when she followed up a very promising run by winning at Epsom

 Clifford Lee takes over in the saddle and she may well improve for the first couple of outings of the season which have been far from disastrous but a big step forward today would be required, especially having to concede weight to the field. 

I can see her running to great effect and I’m more than happy to play the Karl Burke runner given he’s had 7 winners in the last two weeks. 

ONE LOOK - 0.5 Pts EW

Thundering On could well just win this without even getting into top gear but there’s no doubt that she would have been primed for the last outing at Epsom when seriously impressive however I’m willing to take her on given that she comes her off the back of that run and the fact that there could be doubts as to how she will handle the ground here. The latter point could also be said of Estrange and although she’s a winner on fast ground I don’t think it would the type of going conditions to see her at her optimum. 

That leaves me with ONE LOOK (10/1) who absolutely loves this track and boasts a record of: 421211 at the Curragh and could definitely come forward for her first outing of the season which came at this racecourse. Wathnan Racing open their cheque-book to purchase her last season and she’s proven to be a high class mare on her day. 

She’s a course and distance winner and should the main market rival fail to fire for any of the reasons I’ve suggested then I can see her being the beneficiary.
