Steve Ryder heads to Nottingham and Wolverhampton with two bets, including a strong course-and-distance contender and an each-way play at rewarding odds.

Emperor Caradoc 3/1 (2pt)
This looks a weak 0-75 handicap and a confident selection is the top weight EMPEROR CARADOC (best priced at 3/1). The Paul Midgley trained seven-year-old has a superb record at this track with form figures of 112 including when only beaten ½ length earlier this month off a mark of 74.
Emperor Caradoc runs here off only a 1lb higher mark which is only 1lb higher than his previous victory at Thirsk in May. Regular rider David Nolan is once again on board and he should prove hard to beat.

Kaaranah 15/2 (0.5pt ew)
John Butler has his string in superb form recently and hopefully KAARANAH (best priced at 15/2) can continue that trend. The eight-year-old has won his previous three starts over this course and distance including under Jack Callan last time off a mark of 67.
Kaaranah was ridden from the rear last time which should be a huge benefit coming out of Stall 13 in this race although his rider will have 2f to come across from the 1m1½f start. He runs here off a 3lb higher mark but looks sure to run well with four places widely available.
