This looks an open 0-105 handicap but I am willing to take a chance on the outsider of the field UTMOST RESPECT (best priced at 50/1). The Richard & Peter Fahey trained three-year-old finished a close 2 nd over 5f here on his debut before running well in the listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Utmost Respect justified short odds getting off the mark at Hamilton before ending the season finishing 4 th beaten 2 ½ lengths at this track off a mark of 84. He now returns after 288 days off the track having been gelded and he looks overpriced from Stall 4.

There hasn’t been a three-year-old winner of the York Stakes since Best Alibi in 2006 with sixteen trying including three favourites so I am keen to take on Item at the top of the market. ROYAL CHAMPION (best priced at 3/1) won this race last season beating subsequent Group 1 winners Almaqam and Bay City Roller in impressive style by 2 ¾ lengths.
Royal Champion was an impressive winner of a Group 1 in Saudi Arabia before finishing a close 4th behind Romantic Warrior, Masquerade Ball and Sosie in the Group 1 QEII Cup in Hong Kong when last seen. There is a lack of pace in the race which is likely to inconvenience York specialist Pride Of Arras and I expect Royal Champion to control this from the front.

The Jack Channon trained GETREADYTORUMBLE (best priced at 9/2) drops back into handicap company for the first time since a victory at Doncaster in September and he has run well on multiple occasions since. The four-year-old finished 3 rd beaten only a length in the listed Rous Stakes over this
course and distance in October before finishing only 1 ½ lengths behind subsequent Group 1 winner
Mission Central at Naas on his reappearance.
Getreadytorumble was only beaten 4 ¼ lengths by Rumstar in the Group 3 Coral Charge last time at Sandown and now returns to this track in handicap company off a mark of 100. Tom Marquand gets back on board which is a positive and he looks sure to run well.
