Steve Ryder has three to follow on Day 3 of Goodwood Festival.

Evanesco 8/1 (0.5pt ew)
The Johnston stable have a good record in this race winning it in 2021, 2018, 2014 and 2013 and they are represented this year by EVANESCO (best priced at 8/1). The Too Darn Hot colt made all at Newmarket on 1000 Guineas day and did well to finish 7th in the Golden Gates Handicap at Royal Ascot which has worked out well since.
Evanesco looked the most likely winner 2f out at Newmarket last time but tired late on to finish 5th with his trainer attributing that weak finishing effort to the rattling fast ground. He will no doubt get a prominent position from Stall 5 and can hopefully provide Amo Racing with their first winner of the week.

Enceladus 2/1 (1pt)
Both Merchant (2025) and Desert Hero (2023) won the Group 3 Gordon Stakes having won the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot and hopefully ENCELADUS (best priced at 2/1) can do the same. The Joseph O’Brien trained colt has shown improved form this season winning both of his starts on faster ground than he encountered last year.
Enceladus won by a head at Cork over 1m2f in a maiden before winning the King George V Handicap on his first attempt over 1m4f. That race is working out well with the runner-up Al Azd winning in impressive style at Ascot on his next start and the 3rd Believed running well in a listed race at Gowran Park on Saturday. He should be able to cope with this step up in grade.

Diamond Necklace 5/6 (1pt)
Aidan O’Brien has won this race six times, all with three-year-olds, including the past two renewals with Whirl and Opera Singer. DIAMOND NECKLACE (best priced at 4/5) is unbeaten in her five career starts with her previous three all coming in Group 1 company in France. She won over this trip in the Prix de Diane last time and the form of that is working out well with the placed horses running well on their next starts.
Moments Of Joy is in the field as a pacemaker so Friendly Soul shouldn’t be able to dictate from the front and I expect Diamond Necklace to win this and remain unbeaten.
