Although he does set the form standard, NOVELISTA might prove too strong. Warren Greatrex's gelding was useful on the Flat and hit the woodwork in a similar contest at Southwell in the spring. Perhaps crucially, he's open to further improvement in this sphere, of which he wouldn't need a great deal to score. Downtown Nashville heads the remainder.

GATA BAN's hat-trick bid fell flat at Worcester, but Neil Mulholland's mare has far less to prove than a few of these and could still have a bit more to offer in this discipline. Edgewell has lost his way since completing a double in July, although he cannot be written off in a race of this nature. Neither can Frankie Faulkner, who has dropped to an appealing mark.

Three-time course winner Motazzen is another to watch out for.

It's hard to ignore the claims of JIAIR MADRIK, who is bidding to complete a four-timer after just holding on at Uttoxeter in July. The handicapper may have been kind to only put him up 4lb for that display and he will prove hard to beat. Imperial Bede competes off a workable rating and, if returning to form, he could have a say. Martin's Denuo can beat Midnight Jewel home for third.

Despite being denied a clear run at a vital stage, DELULU was only beaten a short head on her introduction at Worcester and would have learned a great deal from the experience. With normal improvement, she will prove a tough nut to crack. Point-to-point winner Uptoyourselves changed hands for 17,000 pounds in May and needs to be monitored in the betting, along with Main De Fer.
