Connections of TAAKLAM (best priced at 9/2) have elected to run him under a 6lb penalty following his impressive victory at Southwell last Monday. The Harriet Bethell trained gelding won in first-time cheekpieces by 3 ¼ lengths over 6f off a mark of 60 under Tom Kiely-Marshall and he runs here under a 6lb penalty rather than off his revised mark of 67.
Taaklam is unraced over 7f in his career and Stall 11 is less than ideal if he fails to settle over that trip but his jockey has around 2f until the bend to get a good position from a wide draw. He can hopefully make it 2/2 in cheekpieces.

Both Little Tiger and RICARDO PHILLIPS (best priced at 9/4) are previous course and distance winners but preference goes to the latter who is now fitted with first-time cheekpieces. The Henry Candy trained five-year-old has form figures of 52121 at this track in his career with all three of his defeats coming by less than half a length in total.
Ricardo Phillips was only beaten a nose here on his penultimate start before winning by 2 ¼ lengths last time, both coming off this mark of 55. The handicapper has raised him 3lbs for that victory and he should prove hard to beat with Harry Vigors taking off a handy 3lbs.

The Andrew Balding trained OLD IS GOLD (best priced at 7/4) finished 3rd beaten only a length in a Nursery over this course and distance last season off a mark of 87 and he now looks well handicapped off a 4lb lower mark. The three-year-old was sent off 5/1 joint favourite at Glorious Goodwood over 5f when finishing midfield off a mark of 86 before getting hampered on multiple occasions at York last time.
Old Is Gold now returns back to 6f with Oisin Murphy on board for the first time since his debut run and he looks the one to beat off a career low mark of 83.
