Steve Ryder picks out three to follow at Day 1 of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster.

Phil Cunningham and Richard Spencer have a strong hand in this fillies’ nursery but preference goes to the bigger price of the two runners in the shape of SEXY CHICK (best priced at 8/1). The Havana Grey filly was an impressive two length winner of a Newmarket novice race in July before finding 5f too sharp on her next start when hampered early at Newbury.
Sexy Chick then outran odds of 100/1 to finish 5th beaten only five lengths by Libertango in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes which earnt her a rise of 9lbs in the weights. A big field nursery should suit this strong travelling filly well and I expect her to be running on well with four places widely available.

Waardah 3/1 (1pt)
WAARDAH (best priced at 3/1) finished ahead of both Danielle and Consent when a close 3rd in the Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and she is expected to confirm that form in this race. The Owen Burrows trained filly had previously run well to finish 2nd behind Estrange with both of those runs coming on good to firm ground.
Waardah won the Lillie Langtry Stakes last season on good to soft ground and she can hopefully settle better for Callum Rodriguez in a first-time hood. Prizeland is a progressive three-year-old who gets a handy 9lb from her elders but this looks a good opportunity for Waardah to get back to winning ways.

Scommessa Sicura 15/2 (0.5pt ew)
Musical Times beat SCOMMESSA SICURA (best priced at 15/2) by a neck on her debut but may struggle to confirm that form with the Andrew Balding trained filly showing strong form since. The Newmarket maiden that she won at the July meeting has worked out well with multiple winners in behind and she bettered that effort over this mile trip when a close 2nd at Salisbury in the listed Stonehenge Stakes behind the unbeaten Quest For Stars.
Scomessa Sicura has a lofty rating of 97 following that run and it would be disappointing if she wasn’t involved in the finish with up to four places available.
