The son of New Bay has been gelded since his Carlisle fifth in June and he won't find many better opportunities than this to get off the mark. Astrid's third last time suggests that she could pose the biggest threat, although Oneinthewell has been in good form over obstacles.

HEBRIDEAN NOMAD has filled second place on both starts since his win over C&D in January and Andrew Balding's gelding appears to be the safest pick in an open event. James Choice has been knocking hard on the door of late and merits plenty of respect. Pace Attack got off the mark at Southwell recently and is likely to have more to offer.

Berning Hot and Victory Sound both merit plenty of respect following recent victories, but their new marks demand more from them. With that in mind, preference is for MOUNT MOGAN, who won over 7f here in February and he outran odds of 66/1 when a close enough fourth on his first start since that success at Epsom towards the end of July.

Henfield is the only C&D winner in this line-up after landing a classified event in July and although only fourth here since, connections reach for a visor looking to eke out the necessary improvement. She can go well, but YAZOO is turned out quickly after winning easily at Wolverhampton on Monday and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop him before he is forced into better company. Creciente and Aurelune have to enter the equation too.

LAYLA LIZ drops back into handicap company after being found out in Listed class at Ayr but, more importantly, she returns to the all-weather having won twice and finished second twice at Wolverhampton. Seemingly better suited by artificial surfaces and sporting a tongue-tie, she could bounce back to form. If Our Cody repeats the level of her Sandown fourth in Listed company in June, she will be a danger to all. Kylian and Michaela's Boy are also of interest.

DARK MANDATE is an eight-race maiden but ran on well for fourth over 6f here on his first start of the year, despite a lack of racing room, and nominal improvement might see him successful.

ROYAL COUNTY GLORY was having only his second outing for Jack Jones' yard when successful over C&D last month. He looks one to keep on the right side of, with a 2lb rise unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Narrowly beaten by the selection last time, Credit Forgedd It could have a say in the outcome once again, but Strong Voice is less exposed and may prove a bigger threat.

A maiden winner at Beverley, LOVERS LEAP has improved with every start in handicaps. The daughter of Lope De Vega finished a close second at Newmarket last time and looks set to strike off her current mark. There could be more to come from Kaori on the back of her respectable third in first-time cheekpieces at Leicester, while the admirably consistent Buckland Belle is no forlorn hope, despite a 3lb rise for winning at Bath.

WALKING ON CLOUDS has won two of his last four starts and could be worth another chance. He scored at Wolverhampton on his penultimate outing, having made every yard over C&D in June, and he remains on a workable mark if back on song. Rianka is not out of this if reproducing the form of her Yarmouth success, while Iconic Dawn drops down in trip with a shout.
