Horse: Over Spiced

Trainer: Grace Harris

What caught the eye: It was hard for her not to have caught your eye when The 4-year old filly ran at Goodwood on Tuesday and again finished second at the picturesque venue in successive starts.

The door was slammed in her face with Oisin Murphy on board and the race did go to the stewards before the result remained the same. She’s a filly who’s clearly in good form and is worth putting into your tracker.

When is she a bet: I wouldn’t put you off giving her a second look next time out and given that she’s a filly who runs over the minimal trip means it may lead to a quick turnaround and an opportunity to get her sooner rather than later.

Horse: Violet Goldsmith

Trainer: Eve Johnson Houghton

What caught the eye: You won’t see many handicap races this uncompetitive. This filly and the winner (Wind Summer) pulled miles clear of the rest of the field with the margin back to third almost 6 lengths.

The form has been consistent from Violet Goldsmith with figures of: 2212 from her last four runs and is clearly in good form.

When is she a bet: I would suggest checking the market on the next few starts and she could have plenty more improvement in her given recent form and you’d hope she’ll be winning again quite soon.

Horse: Karakula Dancer

Trainer: Martin Dunne

What caught the eye: He finished fourth after being held up and you could argue that the ride left a lot to be desired and I’ll always be forgiving of jockeys given that I sit and watch while they do the dangerous and proper work and to be fair, there was a claimer in the saddle but Alice Bond has had 150 rides to date and certainly knows how to win, especially for Martin Dunne with her having won 33% of her 12 rides for the trainer.

That said, there didn’t seem a huge amount of urgency to get this horse to kick on and this was just the second start for connections which sets up for an intriguing run next time out.

When is he a bet: I would be very interested in this horse next time out as he is only 2lbs higher than his last winning mark and has placed off higher ratings previously.
