Bassrah 3/1 (1pt)

The Charlie Fellowes trained BASSRAH (best priced at 3/1) sets a high standard in this novice race with a rating of 78 and her rivals will need to show progress in order to reach that level. The well bred filly stepped forward from her debut effort to finish 2nd at Yarmouth before running well in 4th at Sandown last time in a strong contest.

The form of that Sandown race looks strong with the winner Tall Trees running in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes and the runner-up Victoria Night winning by 4 ½ lengths on her next start. A further three lengths behind those rivals was Bassrah but this looks a weaker contest and she looks the one beat.

Knightsail 11/1 (0.5pt ew)

This looks a competitive 0-85 handicap but preference goes to KNIGHTSAIL (best priced at 9/1) who should appreciate this 1m6f trip. The son of Camelot showed a good level of form in maiden and novice races prior to looking outpaced over 1m2f at Sandown on his handicap debut in July.

That was his first run since being gelded and connections of Knightsail blamed the good to firm ground for that effort. The combination of this step up in trip to 1m6f and the softer ground should suit him well and he should run well with Joe Leavy deputising on board.
