Elvetham also won last time out, in his case at Lingfield, and although put up 8lb by the handicapper, Conrad Allen has booked Tom Kiely-Marshall to take 3lb off his back. Court Drive and Cayman Tai appear the best of the rest.

Affection has to be of interest having won over this distance at Lyon-La Soie in March, but she is yet to recapture her French form since joining David Pipe and may have to settle for a place. She ran well again when second at Lingfield on her only start since, and although stepping up three furlongs for her handicap debut, she should have more to offer. Goodwood third Aunt Roberta also seems likely to get involved.

Bearwith deserves a mention as the only C&D winner in the line-up, but that was off 2lb higher and his recent seventh at Beverley leaves him with plenty to find. Meet Me In Meraki kept on well to win over shorter at Chester. He wasn't winning out of turn and can go close off just 3lb higher, but a chance is taken on COSMIC MAN. He ran his best race yet when third at Redcar and, if first-time cheekpieces work, he could be the one.
