Although Centigrade was too free when finishing down the field in a Listed event at Sandown recently, a repeat of his previous sixth in a competitive heritage handicap at York would see him go close. Ralph Beckett's charge isn't taken lightly, while reopposing seventh Eternal Force isn't easily dismissed either, but ARCTIC THUNDER edges the vote. The five-year-old shaped better than the beaten distance when coming home in sixth on his latest outing at Ascot and a race of this nature looks within his compass.
Prediction : 1st Arctic Thunder 2nd Centigrade 3rd Eternal Force

Having posted a respectable fifth in the Portland at Doncaster recently, last year's winner of this contest KING OF LIGHT could be ready to be crowned again. A 1lb ease in the ratings can only help the four-year-old and any cut in the ground won't inconvenience him either. Ancient State landed the spoils at Doncaster the following day and he's feared most, ahead of Ayr Silver Cup sixth Trilby.
Prediction : 1st King Of Light 2nd Ancient State 3rd Trilby

There was plenty of encouragement to be gleaned from KAGUYAHIME's opening third at Ascot and she makes grand appealing easing in class. Roger Varian's filly stayed on nicely from the rear and she should take all the beating. 145,000gns newcomer Hotterthanjuly is a potential fly in the ointment and sustained market support would be interesting, while My Girl Dee Mo is the pick of the remainder with race experience.
Prediction : 1st Kaguyahime 2nd Hotterthanjuly 3rd My Girl Dee Mo

Several of these have been in good form and, with the likes of the hat-trick seeking Golden Long, Miraculous and Angel Gabriel all thriving, pinpointing the one who will shine the brightest isn't easy. However, STORM FORCE has bags of scope after impressing by winning a maiden at Southwell and following up emphatically under a penalty in novice company at Lingfield. Reverting to turf for his handicap debut is a natural step and the son of Starspangledbanner gets the vote based on potential.
Prediction : 1st Storm Force 2nd Golden Long 3rd Miraculous

KODIAK BREEZE faced a much stiffer test in the Harry's Half Million at York and is a much more attractive proposition back in calmer waters. The winner of his two starts prior to the class 2 event, the Kevin Ryan-trained gelding can bounce back to make a winning nursery debut, provided he handles the forecast going. Mind Those Steps has something to find with the selection based on that Knavesmire race. However, her third at Hamilton was an improvement and she looks another key player. Camarda Rc and Trumpety Trump complete the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Kodiak Breeze 2nd Mind Those Steps 3rd Camarda Rc

Royal Acclamation is improving, finishing third at Lingfield and a length second at Goodwood on soft ground to Quicken Away, and the homebred Zarak colt should be a force to reckon with again. However, the winner that day was trained by Andrew Balding who sends IMPASTO here knowing exactly what is needed. Second at Ascot when looking as if the experience would do him good, the son of Palace Pier might go one better now. Hands To Yourself and Game Character are others for the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Impasto 2nd Royal Acclamation 3rd Hands To Yourself

Soul Limbo has two wins, one over hurdles and the other at Bath and although off the track since last October, he seems well handicapped off a mark of 74. Gallivanted was not at his best when only eighth at Salisbury in May but has been given time to recover, and he could prove the biggest danger to ALTHER WALDEN. A comfortable winner at Newcastle in March he was pulled up at Musselburgh, but tries a tongue-tie here which may see him back to his best.
Prediction : 1st Alther Walden 2nd Gallivanted 3rd Soul Limbo
