UK Horse Racing Tips: York

Karl Burke won this last year and this time he relies on Inspired, who is already a three-time winner this season. He pulled too hard before finishing 15th at Doncaster in September, but could challenge if he settles. Empire Of Light and HENLEIN are both due to go up in the handicap for future races, with the latter an unlucky neck second after failing to get a clear run at Ascot and he seems likely to make amends.
Prediction : 1st Henlein 2nd Inspired 3rd Empire Of Light

Capitano Josepi did well to score on debut when repeatedly denied a clear run and hanging badly. He can only go on from there with that experience under his belt and is unlikely to be too far away. Andrew Balding has three in here with Regency Royal, an easy winner at Chester, and NAKILA SUN making the most appeal. The latter has improved with every start and got off the mark in impressive style at Windsor last time. With that in mind, he tops the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Nakila Sun 2nd Regency Royal 3rd Capitano Josepi

William Haggas has trained the winner of this three times in the last six years and has a lively chance of a fourth with GASPACHO. She won her last two starts as a juvenile and returned from 10 months off with an respectable fourth over 1m2f at Leicester last month. The same mark may underestimate her upped to this trip for the first time. Easy Carlisle winner Harper Violet should not be ignored, with Glory Road another to consider.
Prediction : 1st Gaspacho 2nd Harper Violet 3rd Glory Road

Our Son Oscar built on an encouraging debut effort to score comfortably at Pontefract and is probably the main threat to SHARADD. The Dark Angel colt was extremely impressive when bolting up at Haydock on his debut and should be capable of much better for a yard who won this 12 months ago. Mehmas Star failed to kick on from a promising introduction at Carlisle, but he did face a tall task at the Curragh and this will be more to his liking.
Prediction : 1st Sharadd 2nd Our Son Oscar 3rd Mehmas Star

BLACK VELVET BOY might not have the same amount of scope as a few of these, but the Quinns' gelding has a very willing attitude and can continue his progress. After recording his first two successes at Beverley and Windsor, the son of Soldier's Call bumped into an improver at Thirsk and was then edged out at Newmarket. He has been raised a further 3lb but, judged on recent performances, it still appears to be workable. Nursery debutants Instant Force and Noble Raider merit respect and don't discount Harley, who could improve for the addition of first-time cheekpieces.
Prediction : 1st Black Velvet Boy 2nd Instant Force 3rd Noble Raider

TOCA MADERA returned to winning ways in a conditions race at Beverley last month. Placed in a valuable handicap off a 1lb higher mark here in August, David O'Meara's sprinter looks worth sticking with back in a handicap. Equity Law landed a double over the minimum trip during the summer and Tim Easterby's charge is preferred to stablemate Go Vince Go, while Tatterstall resumed winning ways at Lingfield recently and could prove to be competitive in this grade.
Prediction : 1st Toca Madera 2nd Equity Law 3rd Tatterstall

Beaten only a neck in a tougher contest over C&D last month, QUEST FOR FUN makes plenty of appeal. Placed again subsequently at Ayr, the eight-year-old may prove to be the one to side. Magic Boy went close over 6f at Ripon last time and this longer trip is not an issue for Nigel Tinkler's charge. He's preferred to the recent Southwell winners Feel The Need and Mystical Storm or the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Quest For Fun 2nd Magic Boy 3rd Feel The Need
