Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Runners Guide
TALK OF NEW YORK
Supplemented for this contest by Godolphin who have won this race a record five times but not
since Poet’s Voice in 2010. The three-year-old has won four of his seven starts and arrives off the
back of a career best performance winning the Group 2 Joel Stakes by an impressive 4 ¾ length
margin. His only run at Ascot was when a superb close 3 rd behind Bow Echo and Gstaad in the St
James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
RAYIF
Francis Graffard trained colt who is the best progeny of his sire Sea The Moon who often produces
staying horses. The three-year-old won the French 2000 Guineas on his reappearance before slightly
disappointing in the Prix Jean Prat on his next start. He bounced back with a victory in the Prix
Jacques Le Marois last time when he beat the reopposing Zeus Olympios by a neck.
TEN BOB TONY
Defied odds of 50/1 to win the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot prior to good runs in the
Sussex Stakes, City Of York Stakes and the Prix Du Moulin on his next three starts. This return to the
straight mile at Ascot is a positive and he should hold strong claims with an official rating of 121.
ZAVATERI
Star juvenile last season winning four of his five starts before suffering a setback after his runner-up
effort in the Greenham Stakes on his reappearance. He ran with credit at Goodwood and York in
Group 1 company before getting back to winning ways last time at Goodwood in the Group 2
Celebration Stakes in impressive style.
ZEUS OLYMPIOS
Four-year-old who lost his unbeaten record when 3 rd in the bet365 Mile on his reappearance at
Sandown before running well in the Lockinge Stakes and Queen Anne Stakes on his next two starts.
The Karl Burke trained colt won the Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes on the round course at Ascot
before finishing a neck 2 nd behind Rayif in the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville despite Clifford Lee
dropping his whip in the closing stages.
MORE THUNDER
Placed behind the likes of Ten Bob Tony, Zeus Olympios and Rayif earlier this season over a mile
before getting back to winning ways last time when dropped back in trip to 7f for the Group 2 Park
Stakes. He still needs to prove that this 1 mile trip is his optimum.
GSTAAD
Irish 2000 Guineas winner who finished a narrow 2 nd behind Bow Echo in the St James’s Palace
Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. He was below form when last
seen in the Prix du Moulin and could now step up in trip to 1m2f for the first time in his career and
run in the Champion Stakes instead.
CONSTITUTION RIVER
Supplemented for this race by Aidan O’Brien who could run him over this 1 mile trip for the first time
in his career. The three-year-old won the French Derby before following up with an impressive
three-length success in the Coral Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on his next start. He has only finished 3 rd
in both the Juddmonte International and the Irish Champion Stakes on his previous two starts when
racing keenly in the early stages and could drop in trip as a result.
Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Trainers & Jockeys To Watch
Roger Varian (Bayside Boy in 2022 and Charyn in 2024), John Gosden (Persuasive in 2017 and
Roaring Lion in 2018) and Aidan O’Brien (Excelebration in 2012 and Minding in 2016) have all won
this race twice in recent years.
There have been fifteen different winning jockeys in the previous fifteen renewals.
Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Odds
Talk of New York is the favourite to win the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, available at a best price of 10/3. Constitution River and Rayif are joint second favourites at 5/1, followed by Zavateri at 8/1 and Ten Bob Tony at 10/1 for Saturday’s Group 1 contest at Ascot.
Queen Elizabeth II Stakes 2026 Betting Tip
TEN BOB TONY (best priced at 10/1) defied odds of 50/1 to win the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal
Ascot but has proved that was no fluke with three good runs subsequently. The Ed Walker trained
gelding finished 4 th in a tactical Sussex Stakes before finding 7f too short when only 4 th in the City Of
York Stakes.
Ten Bob Tony was only beaten 1 ¼ lengths in the Prix du Moulin last time at Longchamp when the
likes of Gstaad and Opera Ballo were behind him and this return to a stiff straight mile at Ascot
should really suit him. I find it difficult to see him out of the frame at the end of this race.
Recommended Bet: TEN BOB TONY - 0.5pt EW
Best odds of 10/1 at Coral at the time of publishing.
