The Steph Hollinshead trained WODAO (best priced at 2/1) was winning for the first time since a listed race in June 2022 when scoring at Redcar on Friday. The six-year-old had plummeted from a mark of 107 down to a career low mark of 62 when a comfortable 2 ¼ length winner with his regular headgear combination back on.
Wodao only wore a tongue tie on his reappearance at Wolverhampton and this was removed and replaced by a first-time visor at Thirsk prior to his usual tongue tie and blinkers combination sparking a revival in form last time. He runs here under a 6lb penalty and should prove hard to beat if coping with the softer ground.

Circus Of Rome 10/3 (1pt)
This looks a competitive 0-95 handicap but preference goes to CIRCUS OF ROME (best priced at 10/3) who bounced back to form and should relish this return to the AW. The Richard Hughes trained four-year-old has a good record on the AW including a 3 ¾ length victory here last season off a mark of 86. He was sent off a well supported 8/1 chance when finding 2m½f too far in the Northumberland Plate on his last AW start before running well to finish 2nd beaten only 1 ½ lengths at Pontefract last month.
The handicapper has raised Circus Of Rome 1lb for that run which is fair and he looks the one to beat back over this course and distance.

The Iain Jardine trained SECOND FIDDLE (best priced at 5/1) has won five of her twelve starts on the AW and was unlucky not to add a sixth when stuck behind a wall of horses over this course and distance last time. The seven-year-old won over this course and distance last season off this mark of 64 and was only beaten ½ length when 2nd here last month off a mark of 63.
Second Fiddle ran well despite getting blocked last time and she would have finished much closer with a clearer run off this mark of 64 last time. Four places are widely available and it is hard to see her not involved in the finish.
