Insuspense appears happiest on Tapeta but even though he doesn't have too much experience on this surface, his recent form earns him a place on a shortlist headed by KING CHERRY. After a lacklustre Nottingham display, Stuart Williams' three-year-old showed his appreciation for the return to the all-weather when making the frame at Southwell, and he struck over C&D just last month. Lazzar offered more encouragement on his return to 6f last time, while Henry Tudor and Shielas Well also enter the equation.
Prediction : 1st King Cherry 2nd Insuspense 3rd Lazzar

More positive tactics and the return to the all-weather helped GIRLS ALLOWED make a mockery of her 33/1 SP when strolling home seven lengths to the good over track and trip. Presumably Dylan Hogan will try to make all again and the Birketts' filly will be hard to reel in. That is actually the only previous winning form on offer, although Upsomdowns did fill the runner-up berth at Lingfield at the beginning of the year. It's possible that Seapearl could do better in first-time blinkers.

CROWN THE FUTURE arrives in a rich vein of form, with a victory sandwiched by two seconds. Admittedly, all three of those performances came on Tapeta, but he was only a whisker away from supplementing his Wolverhampton triumph at Southwell and his Chelmsford third earlier in the year shows he handles Polytrack. Melodical made the frame over C&D last time and should be winning before too long, a remark that also applies to Roccobear.

Thespian Queen has experience on her side, while the well-related Howluckyweare is expected to step forward from her Yarmouth fifth, but this can go to a newcomer. LADY MARGO cost 42,000gns as a yearling so wouldn't be one of the most expensive purchases in the Gosden yard, but the daughter of Sioux Nation is a half-sister to a Listed winner and won't need to be anything too out of the ordinary. Perfectly Adorable also makes appeal on paper.

There would be no more deserving winner than AMARACHI, who has picked up minor money on all four starts since a Bath success and remains on an exploitable rating. Goomah and Rating arrive in good heart too, while Medway Queen and Maria Da Silva are also capable of getting involved. Zoulette got off the mark at Beverley, although she hasn't been seen since that July victory and needs to prove her stamina and ability to act on the all-weather.

THAMES WATERMAN took an unblemished record into the Two Year Old Trophy and was sent off at just 6/1, only to have his limitations ruthlessly exposed. His two victories came at Wolverhampton so the return to an artificial surface can help him banish his Redcar effort to the memory, and the drop in class will obviously help too. Pure Mint put a costly Ascot failure behind him with an encouraging Nottingham second, while Arthur Carrot also found just one too good last time and can compete from the same rating. Henley On Thames is another serious player.

ARABIAN SUMMER returned from two years off the track when filling the runner-up spot at Southwell earlier in the month and the daughter of Kingman has been presented with a fine opportunity to get off the mark. Poor Relation appears likely to benefit from dropping back in trip based on recent evidence, while Tausret makes most appeal of those with no racecourse experience.

Star Time returned to winning ways in fine style over C&D, but a 7lb rise tempers enthusiasm for his follow-up bid. With that in mind, IMPERIAL CULT is expected to come out on top. Having won three of his latest five starts, both of his defeats in that time have come at Epsom and the return to a more conventional track is likely to be in his favour. Impossible Mission and Forever Penywern complete the shortlist.

The hat-trick seeking WHITESNAKE is taken to handle a 5lb rise following her recent C&D success, with further improvement likely to be on the cards from Roger Teal's filly. The ultra-consistent Split Elevens is expected to play a leading role in proceedings once again after his latest second at Southwell. Strong Voice, Generous Rascal and Talking Bear are others worth considering.
