Both Marching Mac and FENLANDER (best priced at 10/3) shoulder 10lb penalties in this contest but preference goes to the latter who has been a comfortable winner twice over this 5f trip. The Olly Williams trained five-year-old won over this course and distance on the 22nd October by 1 ¼ lengths on soft ground before following up under a 5lb penalty at Leicester on heavy ground by 2 ½ lengths. 

Fenlander shouldn’t be pigeon-holed as a mud lark though as his three other victories this year have come on good to firm and good ground so these conditions at Newmarket will prove no inconvenience to him. He looks the one to beat with Warren Fentiman back on board.
