Horse: Minella Sixo

Trainer: Marshall Watson

What caught the eye: In terms of a performance in the last week, nothing caught the eye as he didn’t run but when studying the race cards for Saturday, he jumped off the page to me so rather than an eye-catching run, Minella Sixo stood out based on how he’s been campaigned over fences so far this season
and the lowly handicap rating that is alongside his name.

There is a 12lb discrepancy between the two official ratings with him holding a mark of 119 over fences versus his hurdles mark of 131. Having seen him jumping over obstacles there is nothing to suggest from Galway that the gap should be that wide. That run was an educational exercise with him not asked
to make an impression on the outcome of the race and it was certainly over a trip too short.

When is he a bet: When stepped up to the 3m trip again he is worth taking a chance on provided all the other prerequisite variables have been analysed.

Horse: Lightning Tiger

Trainer: Charlie Fellows

What caught the eye: This was a good start to life over hurdles for the Charlie Fellows runner who lined up at Huntingdon on Sunday. He proved to be neat and nimble over his obstacles when midfield in a race where the participants were strung out in the early parts of the race.

He continued to improve throughout the contest and was sat in fourth position when they turned for home but this 79 rated flat horse continued to rally and ate into the ground passing horses and continued to close on the winner towards the line but was just narrowly denied finishing second.

When is he a bet: I will be intrigued as to where his next assignment will come but if I were connections I would be trying to look after his mark for handicaps but with the benefit of race fitness on his side, he could well score on his outing and is one to track in the short term and no doubt that how he is campaigned from here on will dictate his race targets moving forward.
