The Ben Haslam trained WEN MOON won this race last season on soft ground off a mark of 65 and he should hold strong claims off only a 2lb higher mark. The six-year-old has finished 3 rd on three separate occasions this season at Carlisle, Ripon and Musselburgh with the latest coming over this course and distance off a mark of 68.
This will be the first time that Wen Moon has encountered soft ground since his victory in this race last season so an improved effort is expected off his lowest mark since.

ALPINE SIERRA was sent off joint favourite here last time when upped in trip to 2 miles for the first time but he should be much better suited by this drop back in trip to 1m4½f. The Jim Goldie trained eight-year-old won three times in May, including over this course and distance, as well as off a mark of 62 at Carlisle.
Alpine Sierra finished 3 rd beaten only 2 lengths at Haydock in September off a mark of 64 so he is clearly well handicapped off a mark of 61 and he looks the one to beat with Lauren Young claiming a handy 5lbs.

This looks a competitive 0-105 handicap but it represents a drop in grade for HEATHCLIFF who contested a conditions race here last time behind the likes of the 111 rated Kind Of Blue and 112 rated Wise Approach. The James Fanshawe trained five-year-old will also be better suited by this step back up in trip to 7f here where he has form figures of 11163 in his career.
Heathcliff won his first three starts over this course and distance, stumbled at the start when an eyecatcher when 6 th last year before finishing 3 rd beaten only ½ length behind The Lost King when last seen under these conditions. He has been set some tough tasks recently but will appreciate this drop in grade and he looks sure to run well.
