TIP 1: QUAVISTE – 2-point Win

Best odds of 7/4 at William Hill at the time of posting.

Dan Skelton could have easily gone through the card by the time QUAVISTE struts his stuff in the finale but whatever the fate of the runners from the Alcester yard, this guy deserves to be played on his merits.

Although yet to win over hurdles, he cut his tenth in a couple of high-profile handicaps towards the backend of the season and on each occasion, he shaped with plenty of promise for the future.

He certainly wasn’t knocked about on his handicap debut at Kempton behind the useful Williethebuilder and that effort prompted quite gamble on him for the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso on his final outing of the season.

In retrospect, dropping him miles out of his ground in last pace with a circuit to run was bordering on suicide from the aspect of winning the race but the way he finished off into a creditable fourth in the latter stages justified the tactics to a certain degree.

As it stands, the form of that race at the Borders venue is easily the best on show and providing he is fit enough to do himself justice on his seasonal bow, he ought to be winning this off the same mark of 113.

TIP 2: AVIATRICE – 1-point Each-Way (four places)

Best odds available of 9/2 at Skybet while publishing.

A tightly knit listed fillies affair, with many of the participants in and around the 100-rated mark, and although AVIATRICE has a small amount to find with some of her rivals, her record at today’s venue still makes her one of the more interesting propositions.

David Marnane’s filly landed this race last season when only rated 91, so she is used to pulling off a bit of giant killing act, and even though she was slightly underwhelming here last time out, the way the race developed into a sprint over seven furlongs wouldn’t have ideally played into her strengths.

Better judged on some of her performances in stronger run races, the step back up to a mile will also suit and with a career record at today’s venue that reads 0221112, the daughter of Phoenix Of Spain can strike again at her favourite surface.
