A horse who was well regarded last season after being recruited from the Flat, LIMIER D’ARTHEL was well supported in the market before his hurdles debut at Huntingdon, but that was a short-lived experience following a fall at the first obstacle.
His more recent effort at Worcester was an encouraging outing on seasonal reappearance. He looked to be the winner from a fair way out when travelling strongly through the race, but failed to win, which was mainly due to the energy conceded in the early stages having been keen and restrained for most of the trip.
That freshness will likely have dissipated due to that first run of the season, and provided he settles better in this second run of the season, he should be difficult to beat in what appears to be a very ordinary handicap.
As always with these colours, the market should reveal a lot more, but I would expect a competitive display this afternoon.

I will be hoping that JP has a successful afternoon as I am playing a second horse of his at Aintree, and that is the Tom Lacey runner.
There is plenty to like about MONTREGARD heading into this afternoon’s race at Aintree, and he looks a horse who could have a major say in what promises to be a competitive staying handicap chase.
The seven-year-old arrives with some solid form behind him, having enjoyed a productive campaign last season. Three wins over fences tell their own story, while his third in a competitive Listed handicap at Punchestown in May showed he was still progressing.
I would expect him to be delivered late in the day, and he can easily get involved again when those in front of him begin to find the going a bit tough.
