TIP 1: CINQUENTA - 1pt Win
Best odds of 9/4 at bet365 while publishing.
One of my Handicappers to follow this season is very much CINQUENTA, who looks the ideal type to go Chasing with over the minimum trip considering he was a beautiful jumper as a Novice Hurdler. With his trainer Jamie Snowden in flying form and sending a strong team to Uttoxeter on Saturday, he surely will be well fancied to get off the mark at the first time of asking as he looks very attractively treated.
This 6yo was only half-a-length behind Gatineau Park (138) on his Hurdles debut at Lingfield last November, and he was desperately unlucky not to win at Lingfield on his next start. On both occasions he jumped brilliantly however, and at Market Rasen in February after a bit of a break he absolutely bolted up by 8.5 lengths – beating the very useful Gee Force Flyer (125).
That Market Rasen qualifier set him up perfectly gor a tilt at the EBF Final, but that plan didn’t quite go as connections would have hoped when running off a mark of 125, as he travelled up beautifully before not getting up the Sandown hill. It showed connections that he is better off running over a 2m trip at this stage however, and back over the minimum distance at Ffos Las in April he once more bolted up by 6 lengths having made all of the running.
Going over fences should be the making of this Horse, and Jamie Snowden has already reported that he jumps well at home – so surely he can exploit his mark of 124 now hitting the racecourse. Aspirations for him are certainly much higher than this, so I’d like to see him make a perfect start.

TIP 2: SANS BRUIT - 1pt Win
Best odds of 9/2 at Betway while publishing.
Usually it is a pretty simple campaign for SANS BRUIT – he’s highly tried when not 100% in the Autumn, he gets his mark down during the season, and then goes to Aintree for the Red Rum off an attractive mark and absolutely destroys them from the front. That was certainly the case for the past two years anyway, but this time around having only finished third at Aintree in April, he is still very attractively handicapped.
This 8yo won the 2024 Red Rum off a mark of 130 by four lengths, and the 2025 Red Rum off a mark of 130 by 4.5 lengths, but as mentioned this season he was third off a mark of 133. A stroke of luck this time around sees him back down to a mark of 130 at his beloved Aintree however, and Jay Tidball even jumps aboard to claim a further 5lbs off his back – so clearly handicapping is no issue here, and I would imagine that once again he will set out his stall out in front and make it a jumping test.
That jumping test should get a few of these out of their comfort zone, and chief in principle has to be the favourite Kadastral. I think his price of 13/8 at the time of writing is very short on his Chase debut based on his profile alone considering he was only able to beat Legal Weapon (113) in four Novice Hurdles season, but going up against SANS BRUIT on his first start over fences will mean he has to jump extremely well, and equally have plenty of improvement left up his sleeve. Perhaps he will do, but at the prices I think he is ripe for taking on as reputation currently precedes his ability.

TIP 3: OUR GUIDE - 1pt Win
Best odds of 10/3 at SpreadEx while publishing.
This Pertemps Qualifier does not look as deep as the one that was ran at Newbury on Thursday, and ultimately that is probably due to the quicker ground on offer at Aintree this weekend. It does mean the race is much more accessible however, and OUR GUIDE is going to relish the conditions if he can show the sort of improvement over three-miles that his trainer is expecting.
This 5yo won his Maiden Hurdle at Exeter in April before continuing on into the early parts of the Summer, where he won a 2m6f Novices’ Hurdle under a penalty at Stratford before then winning a 2m4f Handicap Hurdle at Worcester off an opening mark of 118. He was beaten a head over the same course and distance in July when reassessed to a mark of 122, but he looked to very much get outpaced that day before gamely sticking to his task and only just being denied.
He took his form to a whole new level when running in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow last month however, as once again he got tapped for toe over a trip just that little bit too short. Once he knuckled down he found loads of the bridle however, and he ran on very eye-catchingly into third place behind Daylatedollarshort (135) and Perseus Way (126+), who has since won a Class 2 himself at Carlisle on Sunday.
OUR GUIDE was only raised 1lb in the Handicap to a mark of 125 for that effort at Chepstow which is already working out strongly (the 2 nd 7 th and PU have all won since), and as mentioned above, his trainer Jamie Snowden believes he will be an improved Horse stepped up in trip to three-miles. Jamie has his string in tremendous order with 8 winners from his last 20 runners (40% strike rate), but perhaps most pertinently in this Pertemps Qualifier, our selection needs to win a race like this in order to go up the Handicap enough to get into the Pertemps Final come March.

TIP 4: BOOMBAWN - 1.5pts Win
Best odds of 7/2 at Unibet while publishing.
Once again we are in a nice position here with BOOMBAWN, who I put up in my Ante-Post column which you can read here. The conditions at Aintree could not be much better either, with the ground riding ‘Good’ on Friday and realistically it is only going to get quicker by the time this race rolls around at 15:35, as there is little to no rain due. With first-time cheekpieces applied this is clearly his day for the Dan Skelton team, so let’s hope he can do the business. I’d still be very keen on his chances.
