TIP 1: BOWMORE - 1pt

Best odds of 11/4 at bet365 while publishing.

The Charlie Longsdon stable are in good form recently with 10 winners from 33 runners in October and November and hopefully BOWMORE can continue that good run. The eight-year-old looks as if he will get an easy lead in this contest and he has shown good form since reverting back to hurdling for this yard.

Bowmore won at Newbury this time last year by five lengths off a mark of 124 and has subsequently finished 3 rd on two starts since off higher marks and is now back down to a mark of 129. Daire McConville has ridden him in his previous five starts which is a huge positive in these conditional jockeys’ races and I expect Bowmore to prove hard to beat.

TIP 2: JUST A GLANCE - 0.5pt EW

Best odds of 9/2 at Unibet while publishing.

Cheltenham festival winner White Noise is the best horse running on the Sandown card rated 137 but she may struggle to concede weight and race fitness to JUST A GLANCE. The pair met at the end of last season at Haydock when White Noise was 2 nd and Just A Glance was 3 rd with only two lengths separating them at the finish. Just A Glance was only in receipt of 5lbs that day in a listed race but the pair now meet in this handicap with Just A Glance in receipt of 17lbs.

Just A Glance also has the benefit of a recent run when 2 nd at Fontwell off this mark of 120 and she can hopefully make that count against the likes of White Noise, Limerick Lass and Queen’s Theatre who are all returning from over 200 days off the track.

TIP 3: PORT STATION - 1pt

Best odds available of 15/8 at Betway while publishing.

This looks a competitive 0-115 handicap hurdle but preference goes to PORT STATION on his stable debut for James Owen. The six-year-old shown consistent form in defeat last season when trained by Iain Jardine, placing at Newcastle and Carlisle on four occasions. He now makes his handicap debut for James Owen after a 211 day break having been bought for 28k at the sales.

Port Station stayed on well over 2m4f at Newcastle last time so he should be well suited by the stiff uphill finish and the form of that run has been boosted by the winner Dunkerque, who was giving him 2lbs that day, winning four times since and is now rated 132. Based on that form then Port Station must be well handicapped off a mark of 107.
