Brian Ellison looks to have a nice horse on his hands following Wednesday's win
Brian Ellison’s Ravenhill Road made an ideal start to his hurdling career with a taking performance at Sedgefield on Wednesday. Sent off a well-backed 1/2 favourite, the six-year-old pulled well clear under jockey Brian Hughes to win by an ever-increasing 23 lengths.
Jumping fluently throughout, Hughes was always sitting pretty as they powered to the front of the field rounding the final turn before galloping clear of his rivals up the long straight.
A perfect three from three in bumpers last season, bookies had him priced up at 50/1 in the ante-post market for the Supreme but a number of firms were impressed enough to cut him into 33’s. He was also shortened for the Albert Bartlett with some as short as 20/1 (from 33’s).

His performance on Wednesday led to him being the second most popular ante-post pick of the last 24 hours (12%) with only Salsaretta (Mares Novices’ Hurdle) proving more popular with punters with 19% of total bets.
