Bell was speaking to Oddschecker about the King George later this month
ITV Racing's Oli Bell is a believer last season’s King George winner Thistlecrack ‘can get his career back on track’ following his below par return at Newbury last month. Colin Tizzard’s nine-year-old was eventually well-beaten after travelling with some promise for much of the 3 mile contest and Bell believes he is the more likely to bounce back than his stable companion Cue Card.
Likening the effort to Eastenders character Ian Beale’s famous ‘I’ve got nothing left’ moment, he was disappointed with the finishing effort of the multiple Grade 1 winner.
Speaking to Oddschecker’s George Elek live on the Oddschecker Facebook page, Bell was rather bullish about who he believes will emerge victorious on December 26th at Kempton.
“Everyone said then that Kempton, the track, the trip the way the race unfolds is ideal for him, arguably more so than the Gold Cup. I think it’s the readymade race for him. I think he’ll do the King George Gold Cup double.”
