My Tent Or Yours beat Willie Mullins’ horse & in a thriller at Cheltenham
All eyes were on Melon as he looked to justify his favouritism and put some of the old boys to the sword in the International Hurdle, but it wasn’t to be.
In a dramatic finale, Nicky Henderson was left tasting success as My Tent Or Yours swept home and put a spanner in Melon’s warm-up for the Champion Hurdle and it appears that bookies have cooled on the five-year old winning that particular race.
Available at odds of 10/1 this morning, you can currently get a price of 20/1, although 10s are still there with several bookies.
The New One would have pleased his fans with a gutsy display and one bookie has him at 33/1 for the same race.
But today’s race winner is the biggest mover in the market, with Champion Hurdle odds now as short as 12/1 for My Tent Or Yours, a far cry from the morning best price of 50/1. However Henderson’s horse still has his work cut out to topple the likes of Faugheen and Buveur Dair and that’s reflected in the best price of 33/1 currently on offer.
It’s no surprise to see 62% of bets since the race ended going on My Tent Or Yours, but 30% of bets have gone on the beaten Melon in that time, with punters possibly looking to take advantage of the long odds that may well shorten in the weeks to come.
Oddschecker Spokseman George Elek: “Coming third to The New One and My Tent Or Yours wasn’t what most people expected when watching events at Cheltenham unfold, and Champion Hurdle glory seems a tough ask at the moment. But Melon still has his fans and money is still coming in despite the setback. My Tent Or Yours has also done his chances no harm, firmly putting his name into contention after a fantastic battling display.”
