Olly Murphy's £250,000 recruit was visually impressive on his racecourse debut
Rookie trainer Olly Murphy appears to have a live one on his hands in the shape of expensive purchase Brewin’upastorm with one bookie making him a 16/1 shot for the Champion Bumper in March off the back of his debut effort.
An easy winner of his sole point-to-point start, the five-year-old was purchased for the eye-watering fee just four days later. On the early evidence it could prove money well spent as, sent off the 6/4 favourite, he sauntered clear up the run-in ahead of the Warren Greatrex-trained Portrush Ted, who had previously shown smart form himself on two of his three bumper runs to date.

The eye-catching nature of the win had bookies adding Murphy’s stable star to the ante-post betting with 33/1 the standout price. Said by the trainer to be the ‘best horse he has in the yard’, he looks to have an exciting career ahead of him and will have entered plenty of notebooks following Tuesday's effort.
