Footpad was mightily impressive with his performance in the Irish Arkle this afternoon.
After Footpad’s impressive victory in the Irish Arkle, many bookmakers have gone odds on that Footpad will be victorious in the Arkle at Cheltenham. Although he was 4/9 today and expected to win, the manner of his victory clearly saw bookmakers not wanting to take on the six-year-old. There is one bookmaker in BoyleSports who are still best priced at 11/10, but don’t expect that price to hold for long.
Petit Mouchoir was racing for the first time in 108 days but was always second best to Willie Mullins horse and explains why he is 6/1 best priced to beat Footpad and land the prize at Cheltenham. Although Petit Mouchoir needed the run and was clear of the remaining horses, he will need to be far more impressive if he is able to catch Footpad at the Festival.
