The ‘New machine’ won stylishly at Punchestown and has more than one option open for him
It was a case of Déjà vu at Punchestown this Sunday as Samcro did what he has done in every other race he has been in: Come out on top.
Winning the Deliotte Novice Hurdle in typically bullish fashion with Jack Kennedy on board, attention now turns to which race the six-year-old will go for in March.
The horse that Ruby Walsh said was his ‘Cheltenham banker’ is currently the favourite for the Ballymore and he went to odds-on off the back of his latest win. However, you can still get a best price of evens.
Meanwhile, his price for the Supreme Novices Hurdle also was slashed. Available at 8/1 this morning, he’s now a best price of 5/1, making him second favourite behind Getabird who can be found at 11/4.
Already being tipped as the next Faugheen, Michael O’Leary said after today’s race that he’s ‘Still not Jesus Christ.’ Maybe not, but this horse has got everyone talking and will continue to do so until March’s extravaganza.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Another impressive performance means that more and more money is going on Samcro and it’s hard to see who could possibly beat the six-year old at the moment. With his odds being slashed for both the Ballymore and Supreme, there will be some tough decisions to make for Gordon Elliott and his team.”
