Despite defeat in the Hunters Chase, his price is now shorter than Foxhunter rival Wonderful Charm
There looks to be a right duel in the Foxhunters Chase at Cheltenham next month, with Burning Ambition and Wonderful Charm almost neck and neck in the betting.
But some bookies have slightly cut the price of the former, despite defeat today in the Punchestown Hunters Chase.
Nina Carberry rode Gilgamboa to victory, but she didn’t have it her own way, having to fight past the seven-year-old on the straight.
The performance led some bookies to make Pierce Power’s horse the outright favourite, going as short as 5/1 despite prices of 8/1 available this morning.
You can however get a best price of 6/1 on Burning Ambition, with Wonderful Charm available at 8s.
60% of punters today have backed the favourite, indicating that there wasn’t anything lost in defeat for the Gelding, but all eyes will be on next month now to see if the horse can live up to the confidence that’s been shown in it.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Burning Ambition lost nothing in defeat according to punters after his Punchestown effort today, with his odds slashed to now become one of the frontrunners for the Foxhunters chase. Pierce Power as done a good job with the seven-year-old and it will be interesting to see whether he can make a mockery of his 6/1 odds next month.”
