Meri Devie completed a fairly easy win sparking movement in the Mares Hurdle market.
Mullins entered two from his yard into the Quevega Mares Hurdle over at Punchestown today, and one in particular caught the eye with the bookies ahead of Cheltenham Festival.
Mer Devie fended off a challenge from much fancied Alletrix, and ended up winning by five lengths.
The convincing victory led to her odds being cut for the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham. Prior to the race she was 50/1 to claim victory at the Festival.
However, following her success, odds have been slashed to as short as 20/1 with a number of bookies.
There are handful of bookmakers on Oddschecker, including Betfair, Sunbets and Coral, who have remained at 40/1.
However, we don’t expect those prices to be around much longer.
Since the race, 33% of bets have been on the Punchestown winner, making it the second most popular horse in the race behind Apples Jade.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Given that Willie Mullins will have Let's Dance as his first string for the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham, Meri Devie remains an outside chance for the race.
“Her win today, however, means that she will likely make the journey over to further strengthen the powerful Irish trainer's Cheltenham stable.
