Yorkhill has resonated with Glaswegians this week, with punters continue to pile in on the eight-year-old.
The gelding, who shares his name with the Glasgow children’s hospital is being heavily backed throughout the Scottish city.
Yorkhill has tasted success at the Cheltenham Festival twice before, and Glasgow-based punters are backing Willie Mullins’ mercurial horse to make it a hat-trick of wins by landing the Queen Mother Champion Chase next month.
The eight-year-old has attracted 18% of all bets from Scotland’s biggest city, making it the most popular by some distance.
He hasn’t won since that famous day last year when he justified his favouritism in the JLT Novices Chase.
The horse shares the same name as a Children’s Hospital in the Govan area and it looks like that name has struck a chord, with plenty of Glaswegians getting on board and Yorkhill currently a best price of 16/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Whether it is the local hospital or the fact that Yorkhill is one of the top chasers of his generation we do not know, but the combination certainly means that Willie Mullins' hope is proving popular in the Glasgow area.”
