Withdrawal of one of the main contenders has led to a number of horses' odds being slashed.
If The Cap Fits became the latest high profile horse to miss out on a Cheltenham Festival appearance, as Harry Fry’s six-year-old was withdrawn from the Supreme Novices Hurdle.
As the news filtered through, bookies were quick to cut the prices on some of the other contenders for the first race of the festival, with two horses in particular receiving attention.
Market favourite Getabird was available at 2/1 this morning, but this has been cut to a best price of 15/8.
The biggest move has occurred on Kalashnikov, the five-year-old that was trained by the late Richard Woollacott and would be one of the more emotional successes should Amy Murphy steer him to glory.
Previously available at 8s, some bookies have gone as low as 5s, with 7/1 still available for those wanting a fairy-tale story to kick off 2018.
With a main Antepost punt gone, expect the market to continue to shake up as punters reconsider their options.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: "Big news this morning as If The Cap Fits gets withdrawn from the Supreme by Harry Fry. Whilst it's a kick in the teeth for some Antepost punters, those who have backed Kalashnikov or GetABird will be feeling even better about their chances. Expect the market to continue to change in the days to come."
