The 2016 winner of the race could yet reclaim her title.
Willie Mullins confirmed this morning that Vroum Vroum Mag will run in the Mares Hurdle for a third consecutive year, with the nine-year-old looking to reclaim a race that was hers in 2016.
Coming up short to Apple’s Jade in last years running, Mullins said that another crack is on the cards and the Mare has been ‘running well’ in preparation for the race.
Bookies acted accordingly, cutting her odds from 10s to as short as 7/1 in places.
You are still able to get a best price of 9/1 however, putting VVM at third-favourite in the race behind Lets Dance (a winner at the Festival last year), and odds-on favourite Apples Jade who is a best price of 4/6.
Punters have been keen to get involved too, with three-quarters of all bets since this morning going on VVM. These include multiple three-figure stakes, with many people seemingly reassured by Mullins’ assessment.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Willie Mullins this morning confirmed that Vroum Vroum Mag would once again contest the Mares Hurdle, and the news caused a move in the market. The popular nine-year-old has been backed to reclaim the title that she won in 2016, but she’ll have to go some to get past the imperious Apples Jade.”
