Buveur D'Air's second Champion Hurdle win has made it an even worse day for the bookies.
Returning champion Buveur D’Air nipped ahead at the line to cost bookies a monumental amount of cash.
Punters at Prestbury Park were jumping with joy when the seven-year-old snuck it at the end and bookies suffered their multiple major loss of the Festival.
In total, bookies have paid out on the JP McManus horse big time, with it attracting a monumental 38% of all stakes.
The seven-year-old pipped Melon on the line, leading to celebrations around the course and commiserations in the trading rooms.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “There was some punt on Melon before the race so bookies would not have enjoyed seeing those two jump the last side-by-side.
“However, there is no question that they would have preferred the Willie Mullins horse to win than Buveur D'Air.
“Should Apple's Jade win the Mares it will day one to the punters”
