Bookmakers have suffered a gargantuan loss on the second race of Cheltenham Festival, with Footpad winning as the heavy favourite.
Punters celebrated around the concourse after the six-year-old strolled through and bookies suffered their second major loss of the Festival.
In total, bookies suffered losses on 11.5% of bets in the last 24 hours through Summerville Boy, not including each way shots elsewhere.
The six-year-old strolled to victory late in the race to cruise to victory.
Footpad accounted for 39% of bets in the market, but amazingly, no less than 60% of all STAKES.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The fourfold may be down but the first winning favourite has just romped home in the Arkle.
“There is no question that there will be a dew lucky punters clinging on to treble slips with the Buveur d'Air the next.”
