We've looked at three horses which have been backed in considerably by punters on the last day of the Festival.
The Skelton’s link up with their six-year-old which has been backed in from 25/1 into 12s to take the Handicap Hurdle today. A fine performance saw him land third place in a highly competitive Newbury Handicap, a race which was won by Kalashnikov who finished a close second in the Supreme on Day 1. Skelton’s horse has proven he has the stamina to finish strongly and has a great chance of being in the thick of it at the end.
Nicky Henderson’s five-year-old has been smacked in from 16s at the start of the Festival into 7/1 – currently second favourite to land the Conditional Jockey’s Handicap Hurdle. Two back to back novice wins set him up nicely for a solid fifth on his first start in a Handicap race and punters have taken the chance that Henderson can land yet another win at the Festival. Fifth place may not sound the most convincing, but that form has definitely been franked since.
Paul Nicholls’ seven-year-old has seen his odds chopped in half, having started the week at 20/1. Le Prezien was the beaten favourite in this last year but has previously won over course and distance. Punters clearly believed the price was too big and now 10/1 is the best price on offer. He’s finished close up in a couple of decent Handicaps this season and he clearly relishes the Cheltenham track.
