Kim Bailey’s gelding made it five out of five with an exciting win at Carlisle.
Vinndication looked a natural on his chasing debut at Carlisle on Monday afternoon. There was stiff opposition in a strong field for the Novices’ Chase, including Euxton Lane, while the well-backed Uncle Alastair battled right to the line as Vinndication prevailed.
Punters have reacted by backing the five-year-old in the Cheltenham ante-post markets, though which race he would be aimed at is still up for debate.
One option is the RSA Chase, for which he was priced at 33/1 before the win at Carlisle. Bookies have slashed odds to as short as 16/1, with a best price of 25/1 available.
The other possibility is the JLT Novice Chase, with the prices and movements looking similar. Originally priced at 33/1, odds have again more than halved to 16/1, settling in places at a best price of 25/1. Punters are favouring the promising gelding being aimed at this race, with 77% of bets in the last 24 hours going on Vinndication.
Unbeaten over hurdles last season, he won his bumper at Ludlow and followed up with two more wins before an impressive victory in a Listed Novice Hurdle at Huntingdon. He was held back from Cheltenham and Aintree this year and it looks to have worked wonders now that Kim Bailey has sent him chasing.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Vinndication was made to work for his fifth straight career victory, but the way he plugged on and dug in to gustily get the better of Uncle Alastair suggests that he will relish the notorious hill at Prestbury Park in March.”
