With 52 days to go until the festival, these runners could stake their claims today.
13.35 Chepstow – Dickie Diver (Albert Bartlett) – 25/1, 15/8 today
Nicky Henderson has an envious army of novice hurdlers ahead of Cheltenham and the JP McManus owned Dickie Diver could bolster those ranks further if he obliges on debut under rules today. His only previous run saw him hack up in an Irish point-to-point on heavy ground back in December 2017 and, whilst he is likely to step up in time, the early money this morning suggests that he is expecting to give a good showing this afternoon.
14:10 Chepstow - Foxworthy (Albert Bartlett) – 25/1, 9/2 today
As with aforementioned stablemate Dickie Diver, this is Foxworthy’s first run since being bought from the point-to-point sphere and, racing in the colours of Santini, he will have to make light work of this 3m maiden hurdle. With only a couple of firms pricing him up for the Cheltenham race and relative market weakness today, he may be a long-term project for the Lambourn based trainer, although a striking performance today would surely see a move in the Albert Bartlett market.
15:20 Chepstow – Evidence De Thaix (Mares Novice Hurde) – 33/1, 9/4 today
Phillip Hobbs’ mare enters handicap company today having shed her maiden tag at the second time of asking when justifying favouritism at Exeter back in December. She runs off a mark of 120 today, and will need to prove that it’s lenient to trouble the company that she would be lining up against at Prestbury Park in March.
