Henderson has won the award twice this decade and his odds have dropped for a 2019 success.
Recent Cheltenham years have seen Ireland dominating the Top Trainer market, but Nicky Henderson is being backed to end the six-year stranglehold achieved by Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins.
He hasn’t won the award since 2012, but he’s been backed in recent days and is now just 2/1 best price for a third victory since 2010.
Punters have liked what they have seen over the weekend, with 45% of bets going on the Lambourn veteran.
Henderson has the likes of Angels Breath (Supreme favourite at 13/2) and Buveur D’Air (Champion Hurdle favourite at 7/4) to call upon, as we are just seven weeks away from the greatest show on turf.
His odds may have shortened, but the 68-year-old is still third favourite, with Mullins at 13/8, and Elliott alongside him at exactly the same odds.
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “Henderson has some strong shouts but will still need some fortunate breaks if he is to be crowned top trainer again. Gordon Elliott tied the record for victories last year with eight and remains the one to beat going into March.”
