2.25 Kelso – Red Indian (Ultima handicap Steeplechase) 33/1, 1/4 today

The form of Red Indian’s last run behind La Bague Au Roi, Topofthegame and Santini is very impressive and, despite finishing a fair distance behind that classy trio, he could be one to keep an eye on for March. A respectable sixth in the Coral Cup last year provides some welcome course experience and whilst we can’t be sure where he will run come the Festival, a step up in trip will likely come next if he doesn’t fluff his lines today.

3.40 Leicester - Larry (Close Brothers Novices Handicap Chase) 20/1, 2/1 today

Gary Moore’s gelding has been put up 9lbs for his win at Sandown earlier this month and there must be concerns that the handicapper is catching up with him ahead of the Festival. A win here would likely see him near top weight for the Close Brothers Novices Handicap Chase, although the fast improving 6 year old would be arriving in fine form should he oblige today.

15.55 Kelso – Mam Trasna (Champion Bumper) 33/1, 85/40 today

David Broad may only have had four winners from 141 National Hunt runners in the last five seasons, but he could well have a hot prospect on his hands with Mam Trasna. On his only start he finished 3rd behind Champion Bumper favourite Malone Road, with smart Willie Mullins prospect Mt Leinster between them. This is just the second time Broad has sent a horse to British shores for NH racing, although his Little Stampy did land a hat-trick when sent to Wolverhampton back in December 2015.
