Real Steel – JLT Novices Hurdle
Real Steel’s 10 length win in the opener at Fairyhouse has seen the Mullins horse cut across the board for the JLT from best price 33/1 to as short as 14/1.
Fakir D’oudairies - JCB Triumph Hurdle
Tipped up by Oddschecker racing tipster Andy Holding, Fakir D’oudairies duly obliged and turned over the 5/4 favourite Adjali, winning by thirteen lengths. The 40/1 available this morning for the Triumph Hurdle now looks a ludicrous and he has been slashed by bookies to 6/1 favourite.
Any doubt about whether Frodon can stay 3 miles was put to bed as Bryony Frost made all on board the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup winner. The question now is whether Paul Nicholls will take aim at the big prize at Cheltenham as suggested, or take the safer option and send him to the Ryanair.
Lady Buttons kept up her 100% record this season, albeit just about holding on after a late rally from Indefatigable. The dogged triumph at Doncaster saw her go as short as 16/1 for the Mares Hurdle.
It would have been a good battle to the line with Brewin’upastorm had he not fallen at the last, but that doesn’t take much away from an impressive 18 length win in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle. Birchdale was slashed across the board for the Festival and currently ranges from 16/1 to 8/1. Jarvey’s Plate’s disappointing run saw his drift out to 33/1.
Paisley Park - Stayers' Hurdle
In perhaps the most impressive performance of the day, Paisley Park decimated the Cleeve Hurdle field and it would be fair to say the seven-year-old gave the impression there was a lot more to come. Given Emma Lavele’s horse went on to win by 12 lengths against top class opponents, it’s no surprise to see him shoot to the top of the Stayers’ Hurdle market, cut into 7/2 from 12/1.
