It's just 34 days to go until Cheltenham Festival!
14.00 Ayr – Galvin (Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – 40/1), 2/5 today
Gordon Elliot’s gelding is four wins from four and looks set to maintain that winning record at Ayr today. He runs over minimum trip again today, suggesting that a run in the Supreme is most likely at Cheltenham, but he retains entries for all three Novices’ Hurdle races so those wanting to back him at the Festival should keep that in mind.
14.10 Ludlow – Style De Garde (Close Brothers Novice’s Handicap Chase – 16/1), 10/11 today
There is no denying the talent of Style De Garde, but last time he was entered into a Novices’ Chase he refused to run, suggesting that there may be some reluctance on his part to tackle the fences. He will have to get over that today, as he did look every inch a chaser when winning at Hereford back in November.
15.45 Ludlow – Miranda (Mares Novices’ Hurdle – 33/1), 13/8 today
This mare has her first run for Paul Nicholls today having been brought from France where she enjoyed a fruitful flat career. She may have done little to justify the 33/1 tag for the Mares Novices’, but a win today for powerful connections will likely see her shoot up the market.
16.20 Ludlow – Road To Rome (Foxhunters’ Chase – 25/1), Evs today
Road To Rome has been in flying form of late and, despite concerns about the ground, looks a solid favourite for this Hunter Chase. The plan must be to go for the Foxhunters, where the 25/1 will look very attractive should he perform well on more ground more akin to what we can expect at Prestbury Park.
