Ante-post punts are up to the tune of 112% compared to last weekend.
The return of horse racing has resulted in an unprecedented jump in ante-post punting, with bets placed ahead of the festival up 112% compared to last weekend.
In total, the four championship races at the Festival accrued an extra 36% of bets compared to last weekend, with punters’ finally appearing to take aim ahead of Cheltenham.
Perhaps the most staggering statistic was that Oddschecker received 10x the amount of Gold Cup bets than the previous weekend.
Oddschecker's Head of Commercial Guy Harding: “A sigh of relief has been collectively breathed by trading floors across the country, as racing returned along with punters’ cash.
“An unprecedented jump in ante-post punting, one silver lining that can be taken from equine influenza, is that racing’s return appears to have come back with a bang.
“It was also promising to see some of the household names perform at their very best with last year’s GN winner Tiger Roll obliging at 25/1 SP in Navan in advance of his ambitions to defend his XC title at Cheltenham next month.”
