This time in a fortnight we'll be gearing up for the first race of the Festival!
15.40 Ffos Las – Yaa Salaam (80/1 Supreme Novice’s Odds), 10/3 today
Only priced up for the Festival opener due to his entry, it’s impossible to comment on the chances of this German recruit for David Pipe. The fact he has an entry alone suggests that he is better than average. He’ll have to at least run with credit today to get to the track next month, although a return to form for Paul Nichols’ Dr Sanderson would make him hard to beat.
16.40 Ffos Las – King Roland (20/1 Champion Bumper), 8/13 today
Such skinny odds for a second run under penalty may put many off, but the manner of King Roland’s 22l victory back in December suggests that this is a horse to follow. There are some smart types in this field so he won’t have it all his own way, but will need to oblige to solidify his Champion Bumper chances for Harry Fry.
