These three are all the rage in the betting at the moment and are big prices...
Band Of Outlaws – Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle (8/1 best price)
Bookies still have Joseph O’Brien’s horse priced up for three races at the Cheltenham Festival, however, it looks likely Band Of Outlaws will end up running in the Fred Winter. The Juvenile Handicap division is pretty weak in the UK, and I’m backing Joseph O’Brien to maintain his domination this season.
Band Of Outlaws has won his previous two races over in Ireland, last seen winning at Naas ahead of Maze Runner. Connections won’t be too concerned with the treatment from UK handicappers coming into Cheltenham.
Looking at his run at Limerick on Boxing Day, Fine Brunello finished fourth on that occasion, who has since gone onto finish second (by some distance) to Fakir D’oudairies, but beat the well regarded Adjali did finish third on that occasion. Future Proof came second at Limerick who has also gone onto run well.
There are a few concerns about stamina for Band Of Outlaws, but I don’t necessarily buy into them, as his runs at Limerick and Cork came in testing conditions.
Measureofmydreams – Kim Muir Challenge Cup (13/2 best price)
The price has gone for Measureofmydreams but it still looks the stand out horse in the Kim Muir. The shrewder ante-post punters could have got 33/1 for Gordon Elliott’s horse landing this one a few weeks back.
He finished 9th in the Irish Grand National before moving over to the Elliott yard. His reappearance was pretty impressive, finishing 6 ½ L back on Snugsborough Benny last month. Jack Kennedy looked after him that race and as well.
He’s a rare horse actually running off his Irish mark, his handicap rating of 137 is 10lb lower than his peak.
He has Cheltenham experience, with his best effort being a third-place finish behind Minella Rocco in 2016. There are questions surrounding his jumping but has been boosted with the jockey booking for Jamie Codd.
Siruh Du Lac – Brown Advisory Plate & Merribelle Stakes (9/1 best price)
I’m a fan of Nicky Henderson’s Janika which could still run in this race, but I think Siruh Du Luc is a cracking price at 9/1. Nick Williams’ horse produced an unbelievable display of jumping to defeat Janika on his last run at Cheltenham. The handicappers keep punishing this horse, but he just keeps winning. He’s climbed from a mark of 123 to 141.
The weather forecast won’t be a concern for the Willaims horse, he’s won on testing ground recently and last season.
It’s very hard to oppose Nick Williams’ horse as he showed everything you need to win at Cheltenham, a super round of jumping and being very game on the run up the hill. It will be a battle between him and Janika but I think we’ll come out with the same outcome.
