Five-year-old could end up in the Triumph Hurdle as his odds crash.
Joseph O’Brien’s Fakir D’Oudairies has been long assumed to run in the Supreme, but has had his odds crashed from 11/1 on Tuesday to just 4/1 for the Triumph Hurdle.
This means that a late switch could be on the cards for the five-year-old and it would have implications for current Triumph favourite Sir Erec, also owned by O’Brien.
His Supreme odds have also been affected, going out to 6/1 in places and behind Al Dancer (7/2) and Angels Breath (5/1) in the betting.
In the Triumph market, we have seen ten times the amount staked on Fakir over the last 24 hours, then we have in the seven days previous.
That’s put him at 6/1 best price for the Friday opener, but that price could go even shorter if we see a late withdrawal from Sir Erec, who has been the market favourite for so long.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Sir Erec has been one of the most popular bets this Cheltenham Festival but punters are now sweating.
“Those that backed Fakir D'oudaries months ago for the Triumph, before he was bought by JP McManus and was rerouted, may have to fish their betslips out of the bin!
