Tips for every live race on the penultimate day at Prestbury Park.
13:30 Cheltenham - JLT Novices' Chase
It’s pretty tricky to split DEFI DU SEUIL (best price 3-1) and Lostintranslation, but I think Phllip Hobbs’ horse will handle the ground a lot better. The six year-old beat Topofthegame in December, who has since gone on to score at the Festival. He’s got a decent record at the track and will be tricky to beat in the opener on the penultimate day.
14:10 Cheltenham - Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle
The forecast could play havoc with numerous runners in this field, and it’s quite easy to rule out a few contenders with the ground expected. Despite BOYHOOD (best price 20-1) being 13lb above his last winning mark, he’s a good each-way player here. The eight-year-old won on similar ground at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. Since then he’s put in a couple of solid place efforts.
NOTWHATIAM (best price 12-1) finished fourth at Warwick, where he finished off strongly to close on the leaders. He’s lightly raced for the yard is worth keeping an eye on.
14:50 Cheltenham - Ryanair Chase
UN DE SCEAUX (best price 6-1 won this two years ago and finished second to Balko Des Flos last season. Despite the legendary horse getting into the twilight of his career, he was mightily impressive when pushing Altior last time out at Sandown. Willie Mullins’ horse won’t care about the conditions and I’d be shocked to see him outside of the places.
15:30 Cheltenham - Sun Racing Stayers’ Hurdle
PAISLEY PARK (NAP) (best price 2-1) has been incredible this season, and I don’t see the seven-year-old’s form changing anytime soon. Emma Lavelle’s horse destroyed a field which included Black Op, Wholestone and Aux Ptits Soins to name a few. He likes the course and he shouldn’t be troubled with the conditions. The best bet of the day for me.
16:10 Cheltenham - Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate Handicap Chase
It’s difficult to split Janika and SIRUH DU LAC (best price 7-1) in this race and you can make an argument for both. I will be surprised if they both didn’t place.
Nick Williams’ horse produced one of the best jumping performances of the season last time out at this track, beating Janika by a head. I don’t think he’ll be too troubled with the conditions and he has valuable course experience. He will likely improve further from his January run.
16:50 Cheltenham - National Hunt Breeders Supported By Tattersalls Mares' Novices' Hurdle
Epatante has looked class in the two starts for the new yards, but I don’t think Nicky Henderson’s horse has beaten much. POSH TRISH (best price 13-2) beat Indefatigable last time out by 2L and the six year-old then went onto narrowly lose to Lady Buttons. She’s a cracking bet with four places on offer at 13/2.
17:30 Cheltenham - Fulke Walwyn Kim Muri Challenge Cup Riders' Handicap Chase
MEASUREOFMYDREAMS (best price 11-2) finished 9th in the Irish Grand National before moving to the Elliott yard. There were plenty of positives to take from his reappearance to the track when finishing 6 ½ lengths back on Snugsborough Benny. He’s got Cheltenham experience and has dealt with these conditions in style over in Ireland.
