Gordon Elliott's six-year-old ran out a very impressive winner on his chase debut.
Battleoverdoyen made the perfect start to his chasing career on Sunday at Galway with a faultless round of jumping.
That is now four out of five wins under rules for Battleoverdoyen and punters were quick to get their money down on him to win the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
90% of the bets placed through the Oddschecker site have been on Battleoverdoyen for the race. Punters clearly loved what they saw and can see him being one of the big names in the chasing division this season.
He was 33/1 before the race but quickly after crossing the line bookies cut his price for the RSA Chase. He is as short as 12/1 now given the extremely impressive manner in which he took to fences.
The six-year-old, with Keith Donoghue on board, made all and won very comfortably.
He has always looked like a chaser in the making and he confirmed so yesterday in what has many people thinking there is a massive season in store for Gordon Elliott’s six-year-old.
Donoghue said: "He was brilliant. He jumped very well and has loads of scope. I was just doing enough in front the whole way and up the hill from the last he had a good blow.
"He was back in later than some of the others in the yard so there's going to be big improvement in him. It's good to get that out of the way."
